Ear Irrigation Aftercare
Thank you for visiting us for your ear irrigation treatment. To ensure the best results and protect your ears, please follow the aftercare advice below.
What to Expect After Treatment
It is normal to experience:
- Mild sensitivity inside the ear
- A slight feeling of fullness
- Temporary dizziness (usually settles quickly)
- Increased awareness of sound (hearing may feel very clear or louder)
These symptoms should settle within 24–48 hours.
Aftercare Advice
1. Keep Ears Dry for 24–48 Hours
Avoid:
- Swimming
- Getting water directly into the ears when showering
- Using earbuds or earphones immediately after treatment
If showering, you may gently place cotton wool coated with a small amount of petroleum jelly in the outer ear to prevent water entry.
2. Avoid Inserting Anything Into the Ear
Do not use:
- Cotton buds
- Hair grips
- Fingers
- Ear candles
The ear is self-cleaning, and inserting objects can cause irritation or wax build-up.
3. Mild Discomfort
If your ears feel slightly tender, this should settle naturally.
4. Ongoing Wax Prevention
To help prevent future wax build-up:
- Use olive oil ear drops 1–2 times per week
- Avoid frequent use of in-ear headphones
- Book routine check-ups if you are prone to wax build-up
